Abstinence Resource Services is a branch of the Southside Pregnancy Center, a crisis pregnancy center serving the southwest Chicago and suburban area since 1984. In 1998, the pregnancy center received federal funding, under the Title V Abstinence Education Act, to develop a partner abstinence program to serve its surrounding communities. Abstinence Resource Services of SPC was created and introduced its first 10-week abstinence education program in the fall of that year.
Today ARS serves thousands of students in the southwest Chicago area as well as over 20 suburban communities. We provide free abstinence-based sex education programs to jr. high and high school students in both schools and churches. Programs and seminars for parent and adult groups are also available, as are free displays for our supporting churches, area expos, and health fairs.
